Listening is often the paper students feel least prepared for — partly because it is difficult to study for without the right tools, and partly because many of the marks lost in Paper 3 are not about comprehension at all. They are about spelling.
This course gives students the tools they need for the whole of Paper 3, covering both Parts A and B in full.
One of the most underrated paths to a stronger Listening score is phonics. Understanding English sound patterns goes far beyond pronunciation — it gives students a systematic way to decode unfamiliar words while listening, and to spell what they hear accurately in their answers. This is where marks are most consistently lost in Part A, and it is also the area our students consistently describe as one of the most impactful things they have ever learnt.
Alongside phonics, students develop skills in predicting answer types before the recording begins, managing attention and focus across longer listening tasks, and handling the vocabulary demands of different recording styles.
Part B rewards students who can extract the right information from a data file, understand what the task is asking them to do with it, and present their response in the correct format. Students learn:
